King Olaf is the ruler of one of the Five Kingdoms and the caring and over-protective father of Lady Vivian. Vivian noted Arthur that her father once attacked one of her former lovers with a knife.

Biography

He and his daughter visit Camelot as part of peace talks with the rulers of the Five Kingdoms. Arthur and Vivian are enchanted by Trickler in a plot by King Alined, to fall in love with each other. When Olaf finds out about their relationship, he becomes furious and challenges the prince to a duel to the death and demands recompense. Arthur eventually wins, but spares Olaf, saying that this isn't the way to make peace. Olaf then forgives Arthur and leaves, along with his daughter, to return back to his kingdom (Sweet Dreams).

Abilities

Olaf was an exceptional warrior as the king of one of the Five Kingdoms, having had at least years worth of experience in battle from having led his kingdom to many wars. In his fight with Arthur, who was much younger and physically fitter, Olaf displayed immense fighting abilities with a mace, a quarterstaff and a sword, with him defeating Arthur fairly quickly with a mace and quarterstaff and even holding his own well against him in sword combat before losing.

Trivia

• Olaf was a legendary king of Norway from 995 to 1000. He was known as of now, a viking. Before Olaf became king he fought for many armies, before he eventually was discovered to be the heir to the throne of Norway. During his reign he had many wives, before he died in the Battle of Swold at the beginning of the 11th century. There are rumours that he survived the battle, which are unlikely. Therefore Olaf could be a Viking. To support this, he shows Viking qualities like his skill with Viking weaponry.
• Alternatively, his name could be a reference to Elafius, either a Romano-British Leader who reigned in 447 , or a Romano-British tribune in 429. The tribune had a daughter who was cured of her blindness by Saint Germanus of Auxerre, which could tie into Olaf's overprotectiveness of his daughter.
