Ladies were female members of the nobility. Most inherited their positions as the daughters of knights, lords, and even some kings, but in some instances it was also possible to become a lady through marriage.

The male equivalent or consort of a lady was a Lord.

• Ladies were traditionally addressed as "My Lady".
• It is unknown why the daughters of some kings are styled as Princesses and others as Ladies. However, it has been speculated that it may be related to their kingdoms' line of succession.
