- “Furthermore, our friendship will be cemented by a union that cannot be broken. My hand in marriage to Her Royal Highness, Princess Mithian.”
- — Arthur Pendragon[src]
Princesses were the female offspring of a ruling monarch. In the event that there was no male heir to the throne, the eldest surviving daughter became heir apparent and was crowned Queen upon her father's death. Most princesses, however, were expected to strengthen the position of their kingdom through marriage.
As future rulers or consorts, princesses were often involved in state affairs and the overseeing of their kingdom. They may also act as regent if the king was judged unfit to rule.
The male equivalent or consort of a princess was a Prince.
